Anectdotes

My mom is the type of person that cries when she sees starving kids on t.v. There is a specific time where there was a kid on this TV commercial and his parents where killed and his mother was raped in front of him. The boy then had to raise his three siblings, go to school, and work, all at the tender age of 14. This commercial made my mom so depressed that she tried to help any underpriveledged person in our neighboorhood.

She also donates money to charities whenever she can. My mom is a firm beleiver in community service. SHe believes that a person is quite useless if they don't help out in their community. Whenever my mom can't help out someone in need, she donates. Whether it is donating clothes and shoes or if it's donating loose change to the beggars in front of Safeway on Sunday mornings, she is always doing what she can to help out.

My mother also helps out at many events such as weddings and baptisms by cooking traditional food for hours. Eritrean and Ethiopian food takes days to make for an average family so it takes months to make it for a wedding. Whenever our family is invited to a wedding, she immediatley offers to help out in the kitchen.

I believe that there is much more about my mother that I don't know but after a few interviews, I believe that I can display her compassion in my paper.

Your mom seems like a very selfless and genuine person. It's good that she involves herself into causes such as these and can dedicate her time to them.

Your mom seems like a very caring and sensitive woman. I love how she cares about others not only in her household but others when it is not of her own. This portrays a great deal of strength in her to me.

There's a lot of "my mom is the type of person who..." here. Instead of telling me what type of person she is, show me specific times where she has demonstrated the qualities that you admire in her. Pick a specific time and a specific place and describe the heck out of it.
